In 2002 and 2003 we curated F-EST, a weekend festival of events that took place around London’s East End that aimed to introduce the public to the wide range of artistic activity in the area. We conceived a programme of guided tours led by London art world experts, taking in major spaces such as the Whitechapel Art Gallery; important commercial galleries like White Cube, Victoria Miro and Modern Art; through to smaller project spaces and the growing number of artist-run galleries such as STORE and MOT. A series of gallery talks offered participants the opportunity to meet local gallerists, artists and curators. Artwise also produced an accompanying map of East End galleries for the occasion. F-EST attracted generous support from Arts Council, agnès b and Arts & Business, among others.
