Diver is an animated LED light installation at Diespeker Wharf in Islington, by art charity Art Lights London to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The installation depicts a child diving into the water complete with a slpash – the animation effect is be created by lighting each of the stages of movement in sequence. The piece was designed as part of the GAMES art project for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, the largest cultural celebration in the history of the modern Olympic and Paralympic Movements designed to give everyone in the UK a chance to be part of London 2012 and inspire creativity across all forms of culture, especially among young people.
The project is a collaboration between artist Ron Haselden and 600 London primary school children who participated in a series of specially conceived artist-led drawing workshops around health and sports. The artwork was unveiled by British Olympic diver Peter Waterfield.
