All the Time in the World
Troika, All the Time in the World, 2008
Electroluminescent art wall
22 x 3.6 x 0.001 m
This digital art clock that binds together art, engineering, graphic design and technology marks a dramatic entrance to the First and Concorde Galleries Lounges in Terminal 5. Troika have imbued the conventional notion of a world clock with a mixture of originality and romanticism, linking real time not simply to capital cities in different time zones but to exciting and idyllic destination points around the world, ranging from natural wonders to man-made architectural splendours and museums. The visual appearance of the clock mirrors the geographical position of the places displayed, with London’s local time at the heart of the display, and places West of London situated to the left and those East situated to the right. The work encompasses notions of temporality, geography and culture.
